How embolization treats chronic joint pain

Chronic joint pain is often driven by abnormal blood vessels that grow around an inflamed or degenerating joint and keep feeding the pain long after the original injury. Embolization targets those vessels directly.

Through a pinhole in the wrist or groin, an interventional radiologist guides a tiny catheter to the arteries supplying the painful joint and places microscopic particles that reduce this abnormal blood flow — while healthy circulation is preserved. There is no incision on the joint, and most patients go home the same day.

What is embolization for joint pain?

Which joint conditions can embolization treat?

Who is a good candidate?
